The Al Ain National Museum, one of the oldest and most significant museums in the United Arab Emirates, stands at the heart of the historic Al Ain oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 1969 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the museum preserves invaluable artifacts that trace the region’s cultural heritage from the Bronze and Iron Ages to the Islamic period. In recent years, the site has undergone an extensive archaeological enhancement and renovation project, which included the excavation of structures linked to the earliest settlements of the Al Ain oasis, their consolidation and restoration, and the creation of a new museum complex and dedicated facilities for the preservation of the archaeological remains.
ATS carried out a combined photogrammetric and laser scanning survey of this newly excavated area, with the aim of producing accurate documentation of the current state of preservation of the archaeological structures. This work, part of a broader condition assessment campaign, represents a crucial step toward a comprehensive and targeted restoration, supporting the safeguarding and promotion of one of the UAE’s most emblematic historic sites.
