Damecuta – Capri – Italy

Laserscanning

Topographic and geophysical survey campaign was carried out for the Archaeology Department of the University of Messina at the archaeological area of the Roman Villa of Damecuta in Anacapri (NA). The project involved photogrammetric and laser scanning surveys of the preserved standing masonry, the topographical mapping of ongoing excavation trenches, and a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey of several areas within the villa’s domain, never previously explored through stratigraphic excavation.

These activities provided accurate three-dimensional documentation of the standing structures and valuable data for the cartographic representation of trenches and detected archaeological features. The use of GPR enabled the investigation of previously unexplored areas, broadening the overall understanding of the villa complex and allowing for better-targeted and more efficient planning of future excavation campaigns.
