A framework agreement with Italfer is currently underway for the execution of preventive archaeological investigations, crucial for the sustainable planning of railway infrastructure. The activities primarily employ non-invasive methods such as magnetometry, ground-penetrating radar, electrical resistivity, ARP, LiDAR surveying, as well as thermal and multispectral imaging, aimed at collecting detailed data on the archaeological potential of the subsurface.
These integrated surveys are designed to identify and accurately assess archaeological risk in the project areas, allowing for optimal planning of new railway infrastructure while simultaneously protecting possible unknown archaeological sites and features. The acquisition of high-quality data helps reduce risk, enhance project management, and expand existing knowledge of the archaeological contexts encountered.
